What order should I take the pathway courses in?
The traditional order is ECD 1, ECD 2 and then Child Development. However if you are a senior and can only enroll in 1 course, Child Development is a great option. You are able to enroll in courses simultaneously so students who start the pathway as a junior have taken ECD 2 and Child Development concurrently.
Is the honors or dual enrollment course more work than the regular course?
The honors and dual enrollment courses are college level courses so they are more rigorous. Students can expect an additional independent assignment per week (usually a reading and discussion board), more rigorous grading rubrics and less flexibility with late work and missing assignments. That said, most students find the academic rigor to be manageable because of how the curriculum comes to life while working with children. Honors students may earn college credit through Foothill. It is recommended that students try the Foothill course and if they find it to be too demanding they can drop by the deadline without any penalty or change to their schedule since honors and non-honrs students are in the same class period.
